Demon Slayer is one of the biggest hits in Shounen anime history. While the manga is great in its own way, it was Ufotable’s amazing adaptation that got fans excited. The visuals of the Demon Slayer are in a class of their own, with each fight accompanied by an incredible animation sequence that is truly mesmerizing.
Of course, it also helps that the characters in this anime are quite likable in their own right, and the protagonist of the series is quite remarkable in that regard. Tanjiro may not be the most unique shounen anime character, but he gets the job done without too much fuss. Here are some interesting facts about this character that most fans didn’t know about.
10. Tanjiro got his strong forehead from his mom
Fans of Demon Slayer must have noticed that Tanjiro has a very strong forehead. The fact that he frequently headbutts people turns his forehead into something of an unexpected weapon, though it’s mostly used for comedic purposes.
It appears that Tanjiro’s hard forehead is actually genetic. This trait was inherited from his mother, which means that Tanjiro Kamado has another part of his mother, and also very tenacious.

Tanjiro is definitely one of the most peaceful and down to earth people in the world. His enthusiasm is enough to make everyone around him quickly become attached to this young novice Demon Slayer.

8. Tanjiro Kamado is a very light sleeper

7. He can’t sing to save his life
Tanjiro is a boy with many talents. However, singing is definitely not one of them.
In the anime, he has repeatedly shown that he cannot sing or determine the tone to save his life. This deafness has never posed a serious problem for him during battles, so perhaps his lack of this talent is not so important.
6. His heightened sense of smell meant his village could count on him to find missing people
Tanjiro has a keen sense of smell, which allows him to navigate the area and identify threats by a single scent. This, of course, is a unique ability that could be used for comedic effect, and it is, but more often than not, it helps him save his life.

Tanjiro was the first person to know that both his father and grandmother were on the verge of death in the past, his pointed nose betraying their mortality. He also managed to inform another house in the village that a person in their family was also dying!

3. Tanjiro Kamado good with people
Most people consider Tanjiro to be somewhat naive, and at times he definitely seems to be. However, Tanjiro only trusts people he considers good – a judgment he almost always gets right.
It’s amazing how Tanjiro can determine a person’s moral qualities by assessing them in a short amount of time. He quickly became friends with Inozuke and Zenitsu, deeming them to be good people within moments of meeting him!
2. His name has the kanji for charcoal
Tanjiro’s family was in the business of selling charcoal, so Tanjiro Kamado was away on that fateful day when Muzan destroyed his entire family. His origin is forever imprinted in his name.
The first kanji of his name, “tan”, is the Japanese word for charcoal. This word is combined with two other kanji in his name: “ji” (heal) and “ro” (son).
1. He can’t keep a straight face when he lies
Considering how pure of heart Tanjiro is, it’s impossible to imagine him doing something deceitful, even against an enemy! In fact, his kind nature is shown by the fact that he internally rejects the idea of lying when such a situation arises.
It is impossible for Tanjiro Kamado to lie while remaining calm, as he simply cannot find the strength to deceive people. Naturally, it can be assumed that most people can get past Tanjiro because of this trait, but his stubborn nature and unwavering morality more than make up for his lack of wit.
