The Most Epic Transformations of the Last Decade of Anime
The anime industry is one that has historically had moments of incredible legend through certain episodes in which a new transformation went around the world. But, has this trend remained alive in the last decade? Below I leave you with up to 8 transformations that have broken it in the last 10 years, some belonging to truly classic anime and others more linked to recently successful anime.
Mastered Ultra Instinct
I’ll start with the Mastered Ultra Instinct from “Dragon Ball Super” since I consider it to be the transformation of the last decade that managed to drive the Internet the most crazy at the time of its debut. With Goku clearly being outclassed by Jiren, a warrior from another universe with almost unlimited power, Goku was slowly awakening in the Tournament of Power what is known as ‘Ultra Instinct’, a technique supposedly only available to Angels.
At one point in the Tournament of Power, Goku managed to unleash the ultimate version of this technique to use as a transformation, thus giving rise to Mastered Ultra Instinct . In this state, Goku suppresses most of his emotions and his hair turns a silvery shade that reflects that of the Angels. Goku traded anger for inner peace, but what he didn’t leave behind was his innate ability to make fans lose their minds.
Super Saiyan 4
Yes, Super Saiyan 4 is back, and it’s done so by way of “Dragon Ball Daima.” It’s not exactly how we remember it from its “Dragon Ball GT” days, but the impact of the reveal was once again global. After all, that’s what “Dragon Ball” is all about: if you give the fans what they want, they’ll scream like headless chickens, and the reaction to Super Saiyan 4 hasn’t been any less.
The most striking thing about this Super Saiyan 4 variant is that it clearly changes the color palette compared to the Super Saiyan 4 from “Dragon Ball GT “, but also the moment of activation of the form is vastly different. In any case, another clear victory for “Dragon Ball”.
Gear 5
I don’t know if “One Piece” managed to ‘break the Internet’ as they say, at the same level of ease with which “Dragon Ball” does with its transformations, but what I have no doubt about is that the revelation of Gear 5 was the most spectacular moment that Luffy and company’s anime has ever experienced . And it wasn’t just the what, but also the how that “One Piece” nailed with this transformation.
By the time Gear 5 arrived, the “One Piece” anime had improved its production to exorbitant levels for a weekly show that had been running for decades, and that directly translated into making Gear 5 a technical explosion like few have been seen in the anime industry . Definitely deserving of all the hype it garnered at the time.
Chainsaw Man
The “Chainsaw Man” anime is one of the Shonen that has most consistently managed to keep its name among the most popular modern anime and manga. Denji’s transformation into ‘Chainsaw Man’ is thus one of the most distinctive in the anime industry, both for the visceral nature of it and the peculiarity of the final design of the character . Obviously it does not have the same impact as a new transformation because everyone expects to see ‘Chainsaw Man’ in “Chainsaw Man”, but it did not make much noise.
Asta Demon Form (Black Clover)
“Black Clover” is an anime that I always remember as going from less to more, and luckily this was the progression, because the ascending line allowed us to see how Asta was increasingly accessing the demon powers that reside within him . At this point, Asta’s demon form is one of the most popular transformations in modern anime, with those horns, wings and characteristic black tone that surround the protagonist of “Black Clover”. Personally, it is a transformation that I enjoyed a lot, and I am sure that in the future return of the “Black Clover” anime Asta will continue to make more than one person lose their minds with his power-ups.
Naruto Six Paths Sage Mode
One of the most powerful transformations ever seen in Naruto’s history: The Six Paths Sage Mode. This state, granted to the protagonist of “Naruto” by none other than Hagoro Otsutsuki, allowed him to reach absolutely devastating levels of power . When combined with Kurama’s own Chakra, “Naruto” seemed to have practically no limits in his use of Jutsus as well as a natural understanding of the universe and the flow of the forces that compose it. A transformation that truly elevated the status of the protagonist of the franchise.
Titan Eren
No one could have imagined what awaited us in “Shingeki no Kyojin” when the first season of the anime aired. Little by little, Eren’s worldview and his goals changed to the point of becoming a genocidal maniac like few others in the anime industry. His ability to unleash absolute chaos on the face of the Earth came through his transformation into the Founding Titan, which allowed him to command dozens of Titans of disproportionate proportions . This is by far one of the most monstrous states seen in recent anime history.
Mob 100% Power
Mob Psycho 100″ is an anime that I ALWAYS recommend everyone to watch. In terms of animation, it is one of the most spectacular things you will see in the anime industry, on par with “Kimetsu no Yaiba” and I personally think it is even better at times. That said, what also makes it special is how its characters are handled and their constant evolution, unusual in a show of its category. And if we add to that the multiple variants of Mob reaching 100% of his power , we are really looking at a memorable character despite not being as popular as the other members of the list.
