In 2018, the Japanese football team left the world championship after the defeat. Sports functionaries developed a scout program, for participation in which school students were recruited. They were going to train with them in order to prepare for the next World Cup.

The Japan Football Association has signed eccentric coach Jinpachi Ego. He received full power over his wards and put forward an ultimatum demand to sports functionaries: in order for the Japanese national football team to win the World Cup in 2022, he needs a born striker. The coach said that losers have no place in the national team. Classes under his leadership began to take place in extreme conditions.

To fulfill his mission, Jinpachi Ego set about building the Blue Lock, a huge sports complex with all the hallmarks of a high-security penitentiary. The most talented Japanese forwards live and train here, who are ready to do anything to become members of the national team, but this fate awaits only one lucky one. Everyone else will never return to professional football. Team play and camaraderie are not encouraged in Blue Prison. There is a struggle for survival and achievement of the ultimate goal.

Forward Yoichi Isagi became a participant in this program. He played in a team that could not get into the national championship because of him. In the decisive match, the football player could become the author of an important goal, but after the pass to the newcomer, he realized that he was mistaken, since the inexperienced player did not hit the goal. In Blue Prison, Yoichi Isagi will get a second chance if he can make it through this hell.
