3 Kind Anime Protagonists Who Turned Into Dangerous Villains

I have never hidden my sympathy for stories where the characters were forced to go through Hell. I genuinely enjoy watching them try to keep their morals up and I always wonder when they break. And what follows. And I especially like to watch how good characters change and start to create outrages, from which not everyone comes out alive.

Today we will have 3 anime where the main characters were good people, they did not want harm to anyone, but they could not stand the bullying and either turned into vengeful characters or real monsters. Well, what happened, we now find out.

Kaneki Ken (Tokyo Ghoul)

I know who first came to your mind, and so let’s close this moment right away. The plot of this anime sends us to a world where a hostile race lives among people that feed on us – ghouls. Ordinary people are afraid of them, without preparation it is almost impossible to fight back, and therefore our main character Ken Kaneki does not feel anything warm for them. All the more ironic that he fell into the ghoul’s trap.

Having met a beautiful girl in a cafe, he got into trouble, where he was almost eaten, but an accident saved him. And that is not completely. Kaneki ended up in the hospital, where he was turned into a half-ghoul. And for a long time he will cling to this human side of himself, will try to maintain principles and behave well. Until it falls into the hands of a very talented psychopath. And let’s be honest, for all 2 seasons (I don’t even consider the rest) this will be the best moment.

The villain sick in the head will torment our main character for 10 days and eventually he will break. Kaneki will accept a ghoul in himself, moreover, in a fit of a nervous breakdown, he simply eats the one who offended him. But this will only be the beginning.

From a good boy, a cold-blooded monster will arise in front of us, wanting to destroy everything and everyone that could at least potentially threaten his loved ones. And it will become more interesting to follow this broken, but at the same time cruel character. I think you will like it.

Lucy (Elfen Lied)

In second place we again have a kind of classic. This anime begins with a secret laboratory, from which the test subject escapes, while using supernatural powers to dismantle the people who interfere with her into their component parts. It is all the more surprising that when the main character Kota finds her after that on the beach, it is not a crazy monster that appears before him, but an innocent and modest girl.

But it will quickly become obvious to you that Lucy is just one of the girl’s personalities. And in general, the anime is a rather strange mixture, where, next to a calm work, a tough psychological story borders on a harem element, which set the bar for the work of 18 years and more. But today I don’t want to talk about that. I want to go back to Lucy’s childhood.

Having spent her childhood in an orphanage, she did not win love from teachers, much less from children. The latter constantly mocked her at all, but the girl had a friend. She found a little puppy on the street, whom she fell in love with.

But Lucy made a big mistake, she told one of the girls about it, in exchange for the fact that she promised to keep the secret. But she didn’t save it. The evil boys decided in front of Lucy to make sure that the dog was no more, at a time when the traitor simply stood and smiled.

Lucy woke up and dealt with those who mocked her and the puppy. And in general, she was often treated so badly that hardly anyone can blame her for cruelty. But I advise you to see it for yourself.

Keyaru (Redo of Healer)

This anime was scolded by everyone and sundry, it was brought down by ratings, but it seems to me that people were simple were not ready for the immorality that was poured out on them. The plot here introduces us to the kind village youth Keyaru, who, after awakening his magical abilities, was waiting for his life to become better. But with a friend he was very unlucky.

He was picked up by an evil princess who decided to break the character, and she turned his life into Hell.

But at some point, the healer’s gift allowed Keyar to develop immunity to dope from potions, and on his luck, he managed to keep this secret until the right moment.

In a fight with the demon king, he, bypassing his companions, gets to the philosopher’s stone and makes a wish that is strange at first glance.

Keyaru decides to rewind time with the preservation of memory in order to take revenge on everyone who offended him. And it would seem that only a madman decides to go through these torments again, but he is a madman. Moreover, only in this way will he be able to take revenge on his tormentors with the same coin that they gave him.

And to be honest, it was the complete immorality of the anime and its unwillingness to even seem decent that bribed me. Yes, not everyone will like it at all, but there is simply no second such hero. Keyaru is a cruel and vengeful boy, but he is always fair in his revenge, and this bribed me in him. And I’m very interested in your opinion about him and the rest of the heroes of the collection.
