Dragon Ball: 10 Things Goku Can Do That Vegeta Can’t

As one of the strongest anime characters, Dragon Ball Goku can do some things that his rival Vegeta can’t.

Anyone who hears Goku name will immediately associate him with Dragon Ball. The famous martial artist surpassed even the gods in order to protect the planet Earth together with his friends. And, like any hero who needs a rival, Goku has an eternal rival in the face of Vegeta, the prince of all Saiyans. Although Vegeta only appeared at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, the sequel to the original Dragon Ball, he has become one of the most iconic characters in the anime world.

Compared to Goku, Vegeta is a fierce and proud fighter. However, as much as fans love Vegeta’s constant longing and pride, there are some things that his persistence couldn’t do, but Goku could easily do. What makes Goku different from his rival?

10. Consecutive instant transfers

When Goku used the remainder of his power as a Super Saiyan to fight Frieza’s full power, everyone at first thought he was dead. So it was a surprise when he returned unharmed just in time for Future Trunks’ arrival, and with new tech to boot. Somehow, Goku learned to teleport instantly. Goku said it was called “Instant Transmission” and he learned it on the planet Yardrat thanks to its citizens who saved him.

What’s impressive is that Goku seems to be able to use Instant Transfer not only on himself, but on others as well. Its range limits are also on the limit. As long as Goku can focus on the target’s ki, he can instantly transfer them to the nearest city or even to the Other World. Interestingly, Vegeta once used instant transmission in the Dragon Ball Super manga, but said that he would probably not be able to do it again.

9. Resist Manipulation Sorcery

In one of Dragon Ball Z’s most iconic moments, the wizard Babidi seemingly put Vegeta under his control. However, this was not just a natural ability, but rather a spell courtesy of Manipulation Sorcery. When used, it releases Majin Awakening and taps into the inherent darkness and evil in the victim’s heart.

While it is possible to resist Manipulation Sorcery by clearing one’s thoughts, it is interesting to note that Manipulation Sorcery only works on beings with an evil heart. In fact, due to his pure heart, Goku has a certain amount of resistance – perhaps even immunity – to manipulation magic. Moreover, its resistance will be increased as Flying Nimbus users are also resistant to this magic.

8. Kaio-Ken

Prior to Super Saiyan, the Kaio-Ken was Goku’s signature technique throughout his early adventures. Although it was first invented by King Kai, Goku was the only one who ever used it properly and survived in the process. The Kaio-Ken multiplies the existing ki in the user’s body by a “heartbeat”, increasing its strength and speed by taking more damage over its duration. Unfortunately, Goku almost always becomes exhausted after using the Kaio-Ken for a long time, which can prove fatal.

Vegeta does not have a Kaio-Ken equivalent and suffered the aftermath of his battle with Goku in this form. This is the Kaio-Ken that Goku used to push Vegeta to his limits.

7. Super Saiyan 3

In the Dragon Ball Z anime, Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 form becomes his trump card against the might of Majin Buu. Unfortunately, this extreme form of Super Saiyan uses every drop of its user’s blood, unleashing a ton of power when using massive amounts of energy. This form is often used by Gotenks and even Goku in Dragon Ball GT.

All Saiyans can connect to Super Saiyan 3. However, Vegeta has never attempted to do so in the anime and films despite his access to higher forms. In the games, Vegeta has a Super Saiyan 3 form, but they are considered non-canonical.

6. Natural Super Saiyan 4

When Goku started looking for the Black Star Dragon Balls, Goku, having turned into a child, inexplicably connected to a new form of Super Saiyan called Super Saiyan 4. It is this form that he constantly uses in his Dragon Ball. GT adventures and perhaps the most powerful form before Dragon Ball Super. The Super Saiyan 4 state is achieved by fully controlling the state of the Golden Great Monkey.

While studying it, Bulma realizes that Super Saiyan 4 is a form that cannot be acquired at will. This requires constant exposure to Blutz waves, a special kind of energy that celestial bodies radiate. So while Vegeta can access this form through Bulma’s special machine, Goku can do so at will.

5. Autonomous Ultra Instinct

In Dragon Ball Super, it was revealed that even gods have access to special forms. In the case of Autonomous UltraInstinct, this is a special mental state that even the gods find it difficult to tap into. With Autonomous Ultra Instinct, martial artists can let their body parts act independently of each other. Thus, users can respond to any situation as it happens. Goku can dodge and respond to attacks with minimal effort, shocking even the likes of Jigen.

Unfortunately for Vegeta, he cannot use this form. This alone proves that Goku has the potential to not only become a god, but also become a God of Destruction like Beerus. Vegeta ends up using a similar form called Ultra-Ego, the exact opposite of the principles of UltraInstinct.

4. Kamehameha

It’s almost impossible not to think of Kamehameha when you think of Goku, as it’s one of his signature techniques. This attack gathers ki at one point between the folded hands and throws it forward in a powerful beam. Turtle School Master Yoshi created a technique that Goku successfully reproduced upon seeing it for the first time. It has since become Goku’s signature move, and his descendants have learned to use it in their battles. For example, Gohan used this attack to finish off Cell.

Vegeta shows no interest in learning Goku’s signature techniques. This is quite interesting because, unlike Goku’s other techniques, Kamehameha seems extremely doable for the likes of Vegeta considering people like Yamcha and Krillin can handle it.

3. Spirit Bomb

When faced with a ridiculously powerful Big Villain, Goku sometimes has no choice but to rely on the energy of others to finish them off in a huge ball of fiery doom. Officially called Spirit Bomb and invented by King Kai, Goku uses this attack by gathering the energy of surrounding lifeforms and objects and turning it into a ball. Its power depends on the energy used, as Goku can make a colossal spirit bomb to finish off his enemies.

Despite the straightforward nature of the technique, only a being with a pure heart can gather and manipulate its energy. This explains why only people like Goku can use it and not people like Vegeta. Goku also explains that another person with a pure heart could theoretically deflect an activated spirit bomb.

2. Die Of Sickness

No one can deny that Goku could overthrow fighters from other animes simply because Goku’s current opponents are god-like in strength. So it’s amazing to see someone like him die of heart disease. In the prelude to Android Saga, Future Trunks warned Goku of a terminal heart disease that killed him in his reality. Luckily, when Goku contracted this disease in this reality, Yamcha managed to find a cure for it.

This is rather unusual compared to Vegeta, who died twice during the course of the series – all during a fight. His first death was at the hands of Frieza, who used a Death Ray on him. Secondly, Vegeta died by self-destructing against Majin Buu and unfortunately failed.

1. Win A Tournament

Even though Goku eventually eclipsed the rest of the Z-Fighters in terms of strength, they all started out as humble competitors in martial arts tournaments. In fact, despite Goku’s prowess, he only won one tournament, the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, by defeating Piccolo. In the previous two tournaments, Goku lost in the final to Jackie-Chun (Master Roshi) and Tien.

Although Vegeta technically competed in the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament, he resigned to fight the growing threat of Babidi. . Meanwhile, his participation in the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament was controversial as Uub and Goku’s departure technically canceled the tournament. This meant that Vegeta did not win any of the tournaments he entered.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers will be released in 2022 for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Steam and Nintendo Switch.
